 Mac can have multiple drives in build into it or you can plug the USB drive into it. Sometimes, it does not read. You might experience. Sometimes it is running on a PC but not on Mac. hen troubleshooting a USB flash drive that is not working on your computer, there are a few things you can try. First, check to see if the drive is properly plugged into the USB port. Next, try a different USB port. If the drive still does not work, try a different computer. If the drive works on a different computer, there may be an issue with the first computer's USB port. If the drive does not work on any computers, the drive may be defective.


In Mac, you can put it in safe mode and try if you can get in.
Here are the steps to put your iMac in safe mode:

1. Shut down your iMac.

2. Press and hold the power button.

3. When you see the Apple logo, release the power button.

4. Press and hold the Shift key.

5. Keep holding the Shift key until you see the login window.

6. Log in to your account and see if it works.

After you log in, you should be in safe mode. Now, try inserting your hard drive or flash drive and see if it reads. If it does, then you can try restarting your iMac to see if the problem persists. If the problem doesn’t persist, then you can continue using your iMac as normal.

3. Bad sectors - If the drive has bad sectors, it means that some of the data on the drive is unreadable. This can happen if the drive is old or if it's been used extensively.

4. Firmware issues - If the firmware on the drive is out of date, it may not be able to read or write data properly. This can happen if you've upgraded your operating system without updating the firmware on your drive.

5. Driver issues - If the drivers for the drive are out of date, it may not be able to read or write data properly. This can happen if you've installed a new driver for another piece of hardware and it's caused a conflict with the drivers for your drive.
