Dallas, Texas Laptop Battery Does Not Charge Properly

If you have a laptop and its battery is not charging or it is dead and not coming back to life, it could be due to a faulty power adapter, battery issue or motherboard issue. Here we will discuss briefly those issues.

Make sure there is no tear on the charger
Make sure there is no tear on the charger, no burnout smell or any physical issue.

Make sure you are plugged in:
Check if anything is loose, if the adapter or the cable is not fully plugged in, that could be your problem. Check also for any wear and tear, if it is frayed or damaged, that could be an issue as well.

Try a different adapter:

If you have a different adapter or know someone who does, try plugging it in and see if that could be the problem. It could be that your adapter is not putting out enough power.

Make sure it is powerful enough:

Some laptops (especially gaming ones require a big charger to charge them) so make sure you are using the compatible one. You can look on the back cover for require watt power.

Check your battery:

If your battery is not charging, it could be a problem with the battery itself. Try taking it out and see if there is any residue or build-up on the contacts. If so, clean it off and put it back in. If that doesn't work, you may need a new battery.

The heating issue on the board
Heating issues on the board can cause your battery to die and not charge. One way to test this is to unplug the laptop, take out the battery, and then hold down the power button for 60 seconds. This will reset the power adapter and clear any potential shorts. If this works, then you probably have a heating issue.

Motherboard issue
Another potential issue could be with the motherboard. This is a more complex issue and will require you to take your laptop to a computer repair shop to have it checked out.
